GRP stands for Glass-fibre Reinforced Polymer or Glass-fibre Reinforced Plastic

It is a composite plastic often referred to as fibreglass. Variants include Carbon fibre reinforced polymers which are generally referred to as FRP.

There are several advantages to using fibreglass (or GRP) over brick and mortar, wood, plasterboards, etc:

  • Fibreglass is exceptionally strong,
  • It is extremely durable, for example – yacht shown in picture above is expected to last 60 years in the harsh environment and physical stress of the high seas. On land, a static structure such as a fibreglass house in ideal conditions, can last over a century, with some sources suggesting a lifespan of 80-110 years. All our panels are serial numbered and come with a full free replacement guarantee for 60 years!! T&Cs apply.
  • Fibreglass is non-allergenic and healthy, and is the most dust free option compared to all other building materials,
  • There is no risk from mould,
  • Fibreglass is resistant to moisture,
  • It does not rot in moist climates,
  • UV treated surface finish, Easier maintenance – no dependance on surface paint,
  • No risk from corrosion, making it ideal for harsh environments,
  • GRP panels have good insulation properties
  • GRP can be manufactured to be more fire resistant to most other building materials on the market,
  • GRP matches or betters the carbon footprint of most other construction materials,
  • It is completely resistant to insects and vermin biting through.
